Frostburg's Center for Creative Writing Community Survey

This survey will help us to measure community awareness of the Frostburg Center for Creative Writing (FCCW) activities and events, to identify community needs, and to improve our public service.

Our goal, as always, is to provide a rich array of literary experiences for Western Maryland, and to achieve that end requires that we know your preferences. What practical experiences, like workshops, would you like us to provide? What literary events? How can we better inform our audiences, through which media?

Such information will also assist us as we seek external funding through grants and donations during a time when customary financial support is not entirely secure and when costs rise.

The Center and its allies at Frostburg State University and in the community offer a visiting writers series that schools two or three or four times the size of Frostburg State University envy. We hope to continue to host nationally known writers every semester, and we aspire to obtaining a Writers’ House near the FSU campus soon. In such a facility we and the Frostburg Children’s Literature Centre could gather our libraries and materials, could host visiting writers, and could provide an intimate space for workshops, special classes, small readings, and other events.

Need I also write that we welcome your contributions? These can easily be made: simply write the Center’s director, Gerry LaFemina, at nightsun@frostburg.edu, call 301-687-4024, visit our website http://www.frostburg.edu/cwcenter, or write Frostburg Center for Creative Writing
