WordPress 2.7 Icons

Before you begin the voting process, we'd just like to say that we greatly appreciate the time and effort put forth by all the designers who submitted icon sets. Though only one will be chosen to be the default WordPress icons, all the submissions presented here are professional and worthy of respect. Please keep comments constructive.

You will be shown icon sets by five different designers. First you will review each one on its own page. You'll see the icons embedded in the menu, an introduction to the set from the designer, and a short summary of the response from the judges. On each of these pages, there is one mandatory question: How well do you think this set will fit into the design of 2.7? These pages also give you the opportunity to weigh in on specific icons in each set using a scale of how much you love or hate each metaphor, as well as a text entry box for more general comments. These are not mandatory, but the more information you're able to give us about your opinion, the more informed our final selection process will be.

After you've reviewed each of the five designers' work, you'll be asked the big question: which set should be chosen to be our new icons? This question is mandatory. The last page focuses on individual icon metaphors. For each of the menu sections, we list the type of images that were used by the designers and ask you to choose which metaphor you think works the best. These are not mandatory, but again, the more you tell us about what you think, the better informed we'll be.

In addition to being instructed that the icons should fit with the 2.7 visual style, they were given this additional advice: "We're thinking thin lines, flat styling, and if possible some hint of old-fashioned style, such as displayed by the Georgia font, old typewriter keys, Hatch Show Print, fleur-de-lis iron scrollwork, etc."

If you aren't already using 2.7 beta, please take a minute to review the screenshot below before proceeding, as 2.7 looks very different from 2.6 or previous versions.

Thanks for your participation in this aspect of the 2.7 redesign!
